Holiday Time - Part 4

Finally the sun came out late in the day and the two dads agreed to take the girls for a ride to Hot Water Beach in the little rowboat (with a small outboard engine).  Much easier said than done.  We gathered the girls, a snack, paddles, camera, jackets, and life jackets.  We were off only to make it about 25 feet before the engine stopped.  We couldn’t get is started again, so I decided to paddle.  It was slow going but the girls enjoyed the 10 minute trip to Hot Water Beach.  This beach is a place where you dig down inches and the water is hot from all the volcanic active in the area.  The girls went from one pool to the next testing the temperature of the water.  They were being very good and dry until Ellie was showing off balancing on the wood and jumped/fell in.  After about 15 minutes we all jumped back in the boat with the engine running, thanks to Ray, and we went back to the bach for dinner.

Holiday Time - Part 3

The water was flat and the grey sky was filled with clouds as we all boarded the boat for a ride around the lake.  It was a fun first ride for Ellie, who was learning that you need to always hold-on to something and that it was warmer up at the front of the boat.

Holiday Time – Part 2

After a good night sleep, where Ellie and her friend S slept in the bunk room together with no problems, we woke up to bad weather but a warm house.  We took the morning slow, before adventuring outside to stretch our legs and test the water.

Holiday Time - Part 1

A few weeks ago, Ellie had her first big car trip.  Victoria had been planning this trip for a while with Ellie’s best friend’s parents.  We had our car full of everything we needed, which left little room for Victoria and I, but not Ellie, she had more room and toys than she knew what to do with.  The other family had their car and boat packed also.  The boat did have some of our things.  We left on our 5 hour drive early giving us time to stop and let the kids play.  We made it safely to the bach in the afternoon and set up to unpack and let the girls run around.

Bunny Bath?

Ellie said Bunny was dirty, but Bunny was not made for an Ellie bath.  Bunny was only able to watch, but Ellie thought it was funny that Bunny was sitting on her stool watching during her bath.  There was lots of splashing but bunny survived and even got a towel to dry off with.

Ellie and Bunny

Ellie just rediscovered the stowaway bunny.  Bunny is sneaky; he hid in our suitcase when we last left the states and is now living with us.  Ellie is a good mummy to bunny.  He gets plenty of food and medical care, (he needed a plaster on his finger the day the photos were taken).

Tasting

Ellie was cooking pasta alongside Mummy in the kitchen.  While she is not as neat, she has learned to sample the food before dishing it out for us to try.  I can tell you that pasta noodles that have been soaking in cold water for 5 minutes don’t taste as good as Ellie makes them out to be.
