Fingers

Ellie’s new hobby is putting her fingers in her mouth. Don’t get to close when she is doing this because she will reach out and try to grab you with very wet fingers.

Swim lessons didn’t go as well as last weekend. She was tired before it started and she spent more time underwater than the last lesson, which didn’t make her the most happy baby but she did really well. We also had a very good swim instructor that took time to show me what to do with her and used Ellie as a prop every time she wanted to show the group what we were doing next.

Tuckered Out

Ellie slept well after the swim lessons on Saturday. Two long naps during the day and eight and half hours solid during that night. Both Victoria and I were very surprised and Victoria is looking forward to next Saturday.

The sun was out Sunday at I took the opportunity to take some pictures while she was playing.

Tadpoles

Today was Ellie’s first time in a pool and her first swim lesson. We arrived early so Ellie could get use to the noise and all the other kids. She just sat in my lap looking around with very wide eyes. We are both “Tadpoles”. Ellie and I hopped in the pool and met the teacher. She started with floating on her back and tummy. Then a little paddling and kicking to the side of the pool. We sang some songs, which were a little different than I remember them. Throughout the lesson she remained calm and happy. She didn’t appear to be paying much attention to her lesson or teacher. She kept looking all around to pool, at Mum, and every little kid that came into view. Then at the end was another song, which included a small part where the kids go under the water. Under she went, then back up into the air. When she realized she could open her mouth, out came a loud cry. But, the song was still going and this verse repeated one more time. Under she went, up with a cry, and a look of “I can’t believe you did that to me again!”

Victoria has video of this and we will try to post it soon.

Bubbles

Ellie has been blowing bubbles for a couple of weeks and has been grabbing on to Mum and Dad’s fingers and placing them in her mouth.

Hanging On

Ellie has been busy over the last week exploring her new play gym. She can hit the hanging toys and just this weekend she can grab the lion and hang on to its leg. Like any girl, she also loves to look into the mirror. I don’t think she understands that it’s her looking back.

Daddy’s outfit

I have been waiting for it to get colder so I could dress in her in this outfit. Everyone should have striped polyprop long underwear for winter. Too bad she isn’t quite old enough for snowboarding!

Ellie is gaining weight and thigh rolls. She now has more hair than any baby I have seen and it keeps growing. Ellie has also received her New Zealand passport; our little girl officially has dual citizenship.

Thanks to Megan for letting me borrow your lens.

Very unexpected trip

My parents came out to say good bye to a very close friend to us last week. While Ellie didn’t know what was happening, she sensed something was different. She didn’t forget Grandma or Granddad’s voices and gave each of them big smiles with her tongue sticking out.
