Tadpoles

Today was Ellie’s first time in a pool and her first swim lesson. We arrived early so Ellie could get use to the noise and all the other kids. She just sat in my lap looking around with very wide eyes. We are both “Tadpoles”. Ellie and I hopped in the pool and met the teacher. She started with floating on her back and tummy. Then a little paddling and kicking to the side of the pool. We sang some songs, which were a little different than I remember them. Throughout the lesson she remained calm and happy. She didn’t appear to be paying much attention to her lesson or teacher. She kept looking all around to pool, at Mum, and every little kid that came into view. Then at the end was another song, which included a small part where the kids go under the water. Under she went, then back up into the air. When she realized she could open her mouth, out came a loud cry. But, the song was still going and this verse repeated one more time. Under she went, up with a cry, and a look of “I can’t believe you did that to me again!”

Victoria has video of this and we will try to post it soon.
