Easter Eggs

Ellie helped put 6 eggs into a pot (“Gently” was repeated many times) and then watched as we filled the pot with water.  She then noted “fire” as I started to heat up the water on the stovetop.  The next morning as she was reading quietly up stairs I prepared the egg surprise for her.  She was excited to see all the colours and eggs on her little table.  I did the first half of an egg to show her how it was done then let her go. Each egg went into each colour at least twice.

Daddy found out quite quickly that food colouring doesn’t easily come off your fingers.  Oops!  Mummy reminded Daddy that Ellie and I were suppose to use spoons and not fingers to take the eggs out of the dye!

When you consider how much Ellie hates having ANYTHING on her hands, it is truly amazing this whole experience didn't end in a total meltdown!

Grandad says: First scary movies (the hair) and now die-ing eggs. Funny!! Grandma says: I love that she is enjoying the egg dyeing mess. Now, you know, she'll ask for this treat often.

Great story and photos :o) Maybe try some of those mini tongs next time, or kit her out in some disposable gloves (though they probably don't come in size two).
