Sleeping

Ellie doesn’t really like taking naps in her room anymore, but we would like her too.  She still needs a nap most days and will sometimes fall asleep anywhere but bed.  Victoria was able to get a few pictures in before Ellie woke up last weekend.  She fell asleep on the couch sitting up and would slowly tip over to one side before jerking back up to the sitting position.  She would not let herself lay down, even though we tried to get her too.

A Run In with an Elephant

Ellie, Mummy and I braved a few rain showers and went to the zoo today.  We were able to see the baby giraffe and the new alligators for the first time.  The highlight was us was walking from the elephant enclosure, with missing elephant to the next set of animals when around the corner we saw the elephant and the trainers walking on the path right towards us.  There was no one else around, so we back up 15 paces and moved to the side to see the elephant walk past at very close range.  To our surprise, the trainer stopped the elephant and came up to us.  He gave Ellie, who was in my arms; a quarter of an apple and the elephant used its large trunk to gently grab the apple out of her hands and ate it.  Ellie wasn’t sure about the whole thing, but she also had no idea to be afraid.  Then Mummy and I were given a part of the apple and also fed the elephant.  Talk about perfect timing!

No pictures of the zoo today, sorry.

Fire Fire

All through the summer Ellie has been waiting for the next fire (burn off), but we had to wait for the fire ban to lift.  This was happening around my birthday, so we told Ellie that for Daddy’s birthday we would have a large candle.  My birthday came and went, with rain and more rain.  Finally, the time came when the rain stopped for a very short time and we decided to give it a go, since Granddad and the nephews were in town.  The fire was uneventful and the pile of brush didn’t really burn, but Ellie and Andrew enjoyed it.

Visitors from a far away land

Wow, Ellie received so much attention a few weeks ago with the visit from Grandma, Granddad, Aunt Kathy, and Cousins Matthew and Andrew.  We all had a great time.  Ellie read books, jumped on the trampoline, rode behind the tractor, and sat quietly with the boys.  Ellie even remembered the wake-up game that all the kids do with Granddad while Grandma was treated to cups of Ellie’s special tea.

Computer Art

Ellie has been working hard at her computer art.  She is using Photoshop and a Wacom tablet to create her artwork.
